The molded grip is the Safari's most divisive feature. It forces the standard tripod hold, which is genuinely helpful for a beginner and genuinely irritating for anyone who holds a pen differently.
One cartridge is not much ink. A bottle or a pack of cartridges alongside turns this from a pen into a working setup, and costs very little.

What it does well

- Fine nib suits planner boxes and everyday notes.

What it does not
- The molded grip does not suit every hand, and the listing specifies a right-handed nib.

That last column is the honest part. Above about sixty dollars you are buying the object, its presentation and its weight in the hand. Those are real things to buy and worth money to plenty of people - just do not expect the writing to change.
The refill standard is the durability spec
The one thing that determines whether a gift pen is still in use in a decade is whether refills are still made. Two of the picks here are built on standards that have been in continuous production since the 1950s, which is a stronger guarantee than any warranty.
It is worth checking on anything unfamiliar. A beautiful pen with a proprietary refill from a maker that stops making it becomes an ornament, however good it was.
Choosing inside the band
