About Ink & Indent
A gift site for planners, pens and desk objects, organized by who you are buying for, with a price beside everything.
Ink & Indent exists because of a gap that turned out to be unanimous. We read ten stationery gift guides before building this, and every one of them organizes by product category. Not one organizes by recipient, and not one builds a page around a price ceiling — even though the budget is often inside the search query itself.
Nobody walks into December thinking “I need a planner.” They think: my kid’s teacher, my sister who journals, the person whose name I drew at work, and a number. So that is how this site is arranged.
Who writes it
Scooter M., an enthusiast — someone who is genuinely into this stuff and reads the spec sheets for fun. I compile the published numbers, do the arithmetic, and write down what I find. No lab coat, no free samples, no test cupboard.
I am not going to tell you I have spent years with these products, because I have not spent any time with them at all. What I can tell you is exactly where every figure on this site came from, which is a smaller claim and a checkable one.
What we do not claim
- We have not handled these products. Not one of the 33 of them. It is on how we pick and on every page that recommends something.
- We hold no certifications and there is no expert panel. There is one person reading spec sheets.
- We publish no ratings of our own. A score out of ten implies a test, and we did not run one. There is no review or rating markup anywhere in this site’s structured data.
- We have no testimonials. This site launched in 2026 and has no customers to quote. An invented one would be worse than an empty page.
What we do instead
Compile the published specifications, cite every one, name the ones the makers refuse to publish, do the arithmetic, and put a live dated price next to each pick. The full method is on how we pick, and it is written so you could reproduce it.
One example of what that turns up: notebook makers publish paper weight almost universally and planner makers mostly do not. Three of the six planners here decline to state one. If you write with a fountain pen that silence is the most important thing about those books, and no guide we read mentions it.
What is on the site
50 guides across five sections: gifts by recipient, paper planners, desk pads and accessories, pens and notebooks and journals. Everything is listed on the sitemap.
How it is funded
Reader supported, through affiliate commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. It does not change the picks or their order, and no brand has paid for a placement. The affiliate disclosure has the mechanics.
Who publishes it
Ink & Indent is published by Slate Mill Group. Corrections, questions and disagreements go to info@inkandindent.com or through the contact page. Corrections get read first, and the editorial policy says what happens to them.
